Your Turn to Hide
A downloadable game for Windows
After a strange girl appears in your closet you're forced into a game of hide and seek with her - and tossed into a strange rift between reality and the afterlife. Running between the rooms of her past victims you have the chance to uncover their stories, and the story of this strange spirit who is so eager to keep you here - in her endless game. The rooms are full of history and vivid memories and maybe even something you could use to get out of here, but the girl is counting down and you're running out of time. You have to choose: hide as quickly as possible and pray you outsmart the spirit, or seek out the stories that just might have a way to end her game for good?
Your Turn to Hide is a short rpgmaker game loosely based on the Japanese lore of Sukima-Onna and meant to feel like the classics: ib, mad father, witch's house, and so on. The game has eight endings, an original soundtrack, and multiple full illustrations. Ranging from about 30 minutes to an hour to beat, with even more time for collecting all the endings. While it is marked as horror genre there are minimal jumpscares and it's a very character-story focused game.
The full game is free! Pay what you want or don't pay at all, we decided we just wanted it out there - if you want to support us you can pay for it, buy the supporters pack (the soundtrack and a bts book), or donate directly to my ko-fi.

At first I had a hard time grasping whatever the game was trying to tell me because it kinda goes too fast without telling much, but, after a couple of playtrough's I got the hang of it and it got really fun, nice spin on a classic ghost and a lot of creative gameplay choices.
What I liked:
-A bunch of great characters.
-High Replayability
-Amazing art and great art direction.
-Great heartfelt story that is also spooky but with no cheap screamers
-Bonus room
What I think could be improved:
-Better development of the main character, is hard to care a lot for someone we barely know (Although I guess the focus in the game is on the other children so it makes sense) and some tutorial at the beginning, maybe just controls.
-Be mindful of using a lot of visual effects in one room, I understand the point is to block visibility but it gets a little hard to see (I am also really blind so it may just be me)
-Some parts get repetitive after a few playtroughs it would be nice to save when needed or add more save points, specially id the game is supposed to be played many times.
-A little too much pixel hunting (Seeing what you can interact or not clicking on everything).
Overall a great game, specially for a first time, I personally really enjoy RPGmaker games and have played plenty of them, and this is one of the good ones, whatever you decided to do in the future I wish you big success and I would definitely love to try another game, RPGmaker or not.
Keep up the good work!
! Thank you Thank you !
We appreciate the feedback! A lot actually!! we both love puzzle games and rpgmaker games. Since we were making the game it got a little hard to figure out what players would know and pick up on easily, and what we needed to make a little more accessible.
You made really good points and we actually took some notes while watching your video.
I also want to say we had to cut a lot of things, some due to skill issues and some due to time issues. With two new people on the team the game grew in really odd ways and we all ended up deciding it would be best to just finish up and try a new project with all four of us from the start.
Honestly Luna and I would love to do a remake sometime to really do our original plans justice, but that won't be happening anytime soon. The good news is we are working on another game, and I am still working on rpgmaker stuff on the side - I love these games too much I could never abandon them.
congrats on release! :]
Thank you! We're all super proud :D
